True Hybrid models consist of the world-leading Cole Clark PG3 acoustic pickup and a second independent output with humbucker options with 2 humbuckers, 3 single coils, 2 humbuckers, or 2 singles. This is a thinline model with the goal to create an instrument that has equal parts acoustic and electric without compromising on functionality and sound. Much of an acoustic guitar's amplified tone is obtained through the use of phosphor bronze strings. This created a problem; Electromagnetic pickups listen only to the nickel core of an acoustic guitar string. That is, the bottom four strings produce a lower volume than the top two strings. This also happens with other hybrid guitars. To combat this, Paul Gale, Cole Clark's resident electronics genius, set out to invent a machine that could alter the strength of each polepiece of a magnetic pickup in order to perfectly balance the sound of phosphor bronze strings. This new technology, with endless implications for the future, has gone from impossible to patent-pending mission in three years. Now, the True Hybrid series is available for converts and skeptics alike to try.
